Regular launch of Oxford Pakistan program for Pakistani students

 London   02 October 2021) The Oxford Pakistan program for Pakistani students has officially started. In this regard, a function was also held at the Pakistan High Commission two days ago. A major step has been taken to highlight Pakistani students and research related to Pakistan at Oxford University. The program, which started in London on September 30, aims to promote various Pakistan-related activities at the University of Oxford.

The program was designed by Oxford University Professor Adeel Malik, Materials Science Lecturer Dr. Talha J. Pirzada and renowned lawyer Haroon Zaman. Special lectures on Pakistan will be arranged at Oxford.

The program is also supported by the Oxford University, the Pakistan High Commission in London and the British Embassy in Pakistan. Businessmen and Pakistanis living in the UK have pledged لاکھ 500,000.

Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel laureate, is also supporting the program, announcing a major scholarship program under which every year a girl from a backward area of ​​Pakistan is educated at Oxford University. The program will create new opportunities for deserving Pakistani students, said Moazzam Ahmad Khan, Pakistan's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

A recorded message from the British High Commissioner in Islamabad, Dr. Christian Turner, was also broadcast during the ceremony. He said that 1.6 million Pakistanis living in the UK were acting as a bridge between the two countries. Oxford University Professor Adeel Malik said Pakistan was still viewed from a limited and blurred perspective on security, extremism and militancy, adding that the world was increasingly attracted to the growing middle class and investment in technology in Pakistan.

Twenty-one professors and fellows from Oxford were present, including four principals and heads of Oxford colleges. They include Alan Rasberger, former editor of The Guardian and the outgoing principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Christine Gerrard, the current principal, Dr. Nick Brann, principal of Linker College, Sir Tim Hutchins, president of Wolfson College, and director of the Oxford University's International Engagement Office. Sarah Khan, director of undergraduate admissions at Ed Nash and Oxford University, and Elizabeth Kiss, warden at Rhodes House, attended the event in a virtual manner. Many wealthy Pakistanis pledged financial support for the program.
